Fury Eyes Trump for Joshua Ringwalk
Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury plans to ask U.S. president Donald Trump to accompany him for his ringwalk before facing Anthony Joshua. The all-British bout is scheduled for December 11 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium.
Fury and Trump met previously at UFC 250 in the White House back in June. Following the lifting of his U.S. travel ban by the 80-year-old president, the Manchester-born fighter was seen wearing a cap with the slogan 'Donald Trump for Prime Minister'.
"I'll definitely make that offer to my old buddy, old pal, and we'll see if he's available," said the 38-year-old Fury. He acknowledged the unlikelihood of Trump's attendance, given his current role as President of the United States.
Fury also indicated that his fight with Joshua, 36, serves as preparation for a potential third encounter with Oleksandr Usyk. Usyk, from Ukraine, defeated Fury twice in 2024 and remains undefeated across 25 professional bouts.
Fury stated he has "no intention" of retiring after fighting Joshua, viewing the match with his compatriot as a "warm-up for Usyk." He added, "This is a bum to me and I can guarantee that on the night, when I knock him spark out, he won't know what time it is. And then I want the rabbit [Usyk] in New York City."
He anticipates this year will be his most active since 2018, noting recent sparring sessions: "I've done 12 rounds with a 6ft 8in Arslanbek Makhmudov and I've done seven rounds with another 6ft 7in behemoth in Mariusz Wach." Fury expressed his current physical condition: "I'm firing on all cylinders at the moment. I feel fantastic. I'm 38 years young."
