Esteban Ribovics: Hotel AC Incident Caused UFC 332 Weight Miss
Esteban Ribovics explained that a hotel mishap prevented him from making his contracted weight for the UFC 332 fight.
Ribovics and King Green competed in Salt Lake City last Saturday. A tense moment occurred between Ribovics and Green's camp before fight night. Ribovics eventually secured a first-round TKO after knocking Green down multiple times.
Speaking to journalists, Ribovics shared that the reason for his missed weight on Friday was an unexpected issue at his hotel, as reported by MMAFighting.
Ribovics stated, translated from Spanish, "On Thursday, we do everything we can to reach a specific weight, planning to cut the remainder on Friday. However, they turned on the air conditioning while we were working on it, and I stopped sweating. At one point, we had to stop because I got cold and stopped sweating due to the air conditioning."
Green commented that he wished referee Herb Dean had allowed him more time to recover, but the outcome stands. Ribovics now holds a professional MMA record of 17-3 and has won his last two fights.
Ribovics told reporters that his recent loss taught him valuable lessons, making him feel ready to face any opponent the UFC matchmakers select.
"I don't like to call out names," Ribovics said in Spanish. "After the fight against Mateusz Gamrot, something clicked in my head. I became more professional, improved many aspects to be ready at any time, and I can say I am ready. If called upon, I will face anyone."
Ribovics lost to Gamrot via triangle choke submission. He then rebounded with a second-round TKO victory over Edson Barboza, before ending Green's three-fight win streak.
